SMART Business Insurance founder, Mark Vanzo, a small business owner himself, had personally experienced the difficulties of having his questions answered, and finding suitable commercial insurance cover – this firsthand experience motivated him to create a new offering.

Day 1 –  April 1 2013 

SMART was established in April 2013 with the laser focus of making things better for business owners seeking commercial insurance.

The idea on DAY 1 was, that a good level of general information would be provided ONLINE, and a SMART broker would be available FAST when a business owner needs GUIDANCE.

Importantly, from DAY 1 SMART encouraged business owners to call and TALK about the business in more detail with a SMART business insurance broker, so that business owners can get their QUESTIONS answered and operate with more CERTAINTY.

From Day 1 it was critical to founder, Mark Vanzo, that the Smart Business Insurance team of commercial insurance brokers are 100% DEDICATED to DELIGHTING business owners.

13 YEARS  on – 2026:

SMART is now home to a team of 12, and our talented brokers form a capable and DEDICATED group with strong values that we live by.

We put emphasis on creating a positive team environment, highly valuing the respect and support of our colleagues and clients.

Between our team members, we have over 75 years of combined insurance broking experience, works with business owners, directors, CFOs, commercial property owners, IT businesses, life sciences companies, and other commercially active companies that have outgrown basic insurance. We help clients who value guidance and advocacy.
